ILO allow you to access the support you need, when you need it. You can choose when and how you get the support to maintain your independence. It is a flexible, customised approach to living arrangements, allowing you to design and implement your own living situations.

This will look different for every person, importantly ILO does not cover the cost of your home, it is for support provided in a self-funded home, a rental property or a home shared with other family members.

This option is designed to give you a sense of home and belonging, while building your independence. You decide who you live with and how they, and other supports – including family, friends and other networks – support you.

It may include things such as personal care, skill building or general help with household jobs, such as cooking, cleaning or doing your washing.

ILO emphasise building natural support networks, including family and community members, alongside paid supports. This approach promotes independence and adapts to changing needs over time, offering a personalised alternative to traditional supported living options
