Melba to manage children’s respite facility in Cranbourne
Melba has been selected to manage a lovely children’s respite facility located in Cranbourne, known as Valerie May House, from 1 July 2019.
The facility is a purpose built, six-bedroom home with a large outdoor play area, offering planned access for families that need short-term, overnight respite care for children with diagnosed disabilities aged 6 to 17 years.
The facility is currently managed by OzChild, who have decided they will no longer operate disability services beyond 30 June 2019. We are currently working with OzChild to reassure the families, children and staff that we are aiming for a seamless transition to Melba.
In-house activities include a large outdoor play area (pictured above) with a sensory garden, water wall, outdoor play equipment, art and craft materials, books, music and movies that children and young people enjoy. The children and young people are supported to attend outings to the zoo, museums and the cinema and activities like day trips to the beach or picnics in the park.
At Melba, we understand how important respite services are to families, and we are committed to maintaining continuity of service for individuals and their families who use the Valerie May House facility.
